One was described to me about shaking cola cubes in a big tube to look at rocks weathering, and conservation of mass.

Today in yr 8 rocks and weathering, I gave each kid a photocopy of a brilliantly drawn mountain with stream/river leading to the sea. Then I told them that they have a special type of rock at the top of the mountain- digestivite (digestive biccies). First they had to weather their rock (break off the outside surface etc), then erode their rock in the river (make it smaller and round)- and erode all the bits that had eroded off etc --> 'sand' at the bottom. Then they got to eat their rocks. Lots of fun and I *think* they learnt something...
